PES will be honoring the Hispanic holiday of Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. This celebration is a happy holiday focused on deceased loved ones, keeping their memories alive, and celebrating the continuation of life beyond the one we live here on Earth. We are inviting all students and staff to bring in one picture of a loved one who has passed to be displayed on our school-wide Ofrenda. Photos should be turned in no later than Friday, October 27th. This form is being sent home today with all of our Panthers.

Kindergarten tried beets, dried prunes, chickpeas, and ruby red grapefruit juice! We liked some things and other things weren’t our favorite but we learned not to yuck anyone else’s yum! We are so thankful to Miss Rena and the Maryland SNAP-ED Program for this new opportunity this year. Every month Miss Rena, on two separate days, will visit kindergarten and first grade. On those days she will read a book and also have new foods to taste! Yummy! #pespantherpride

Today Mrs. Blackmon and her 2nd grade class joined a live reading by Jerry Pallotta, popular author of the Who Would Win? Series. The book he read was "Rattlesnake vs. Secretary Bird". The students then got to vote on who they thought would win! #pespantherpride

All three of our Kindergarten classes (and many of our staff!) are learning how the sun can change temperatures. How does it feel in the sun versus the shade? How do the grass, water and sand feel in the sun versus in the shade? All fascinating questions! Fun, fun! #pespantherpride
