
Spring Sports Spirit Day at Preston Elementary! Today, students showed their team spirit by wearing their favorite spring sports gear, Baltimore Orioles apparel, and other sports-themed outfits. The school was filled with jerseys, hats, and big smiles as we celebrated our love for sports and school pride. Thank you to all the students and staff who made Spring Sports Spirit Day a success!











Today our 4th and 5th graders visited the Sultana Foundation Holt Educational Center and the Lawrence Wetland Preserve! Students explored colonial history, learned about the Chesapeake Bay, and discovered the importance of wetlands through hands-on activities. 🎉 This week’s Educator of the Week is Mrs. Christina Saylor! With 25 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Saylor brings energy, positivity, and a passion for fitness to PES as our Physical Education Teacher and a SIP Wellness Committee member. She earned her B.S. in K–12 Physical Education from Salisbury State University and is committed to finishing her final five years of teaching right here with us! Her favorite advice? "Whatever you do, always give 100% — unless you're donating blood." (Thanks for the laughs, Bill Murray!) Update: All permission slips and chaperone forms are due on Monday, 4/28. On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Preston Elementary School K-5 students will attend a special field trip to Shorebirds Stadium in Salisbury, MD, to enjoy a baseball game between the Salisbury Shorebirds and the Fredericksburg Nationals! Our Pre-K 3/4 students will remain at PES for a special baseball-themed day with the Colonel High School Boys' and Girls' Baseball and Softball teams! Field Trip permission slips have been sent home previously with information on attending the trip as well as chaperone details.




PreK-3 had a fun and wonderful Blue Day! We made “magic” yogurt that started as white and then turned to blue when we mixed it! We also ate blueberries, blue corn chips, and blue cereal. We mixed glue, shaving cream, and blue paint to make a puffy paint masterpiece! 💙











Preston Elementary Third Grade Field Trip Fun! Our third graders had an amazing time on their field trip to the Dover Skating Rink! From gliding across the rink to laughing with friends, it was a fun-filled day packed with excitement and great memories. A big thank you to our wonderful teachers and dedicated chaperones who helped make the day so special. What a great way to roll into spring!

Our PES Pre-K and Kindergarten students celebrated Earth Day in the most hands-on way! Our Pre-K students brought beauty to our school by planting colorful flowers in the front planters—adding a splash of spring and learning the importance of caring for our environment. Meanwhile, our Kindergarten classes dug into science by planting “peas in a pod,” combining Earth Day fun with hands-on learning about plant life cycles and growth. Our annual Spring Sports Spirit Day will take place on Monday, 4/28! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their local spring sports gear or favorite sports team apparel for this day! Hats are approved, but we ask that no cleats or helmets be worn to school.




🎉 Meet our Educator of the Week, Mrs. Farabough! With an incredible 35 years of teaching experience, she currently serves as the Gifted and Talented Teacher at both PES and FES. She holds multiple degrees—including a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, and master’s degrees in both Reading and Gifted Education. She’s also LETRS trained and a proud member of the Maryland Coalition for Gifted and Talented Education. As she begins looking toward retirement, we’re celebrating the legacy she’s built—shaping bright minds and inspiring excellence every step of the way. Happy Earth Day from Preston Elementary! Today our students teamed up for a special Earth Day Buddy Day event where buddy classes spent the morning helping clean up around the school and then had a blast enjoying some recreational time on the playground and other outdoor areas. Our amazing 5th and 2nd grade Panthers took their efforts to James T. Wright Park, where they cleaned up the local park area and then enjoyed the park’s fun amenities.
