Eleven Caroline County Public School Students earned academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs. Only 72,000 students nationwide have achieved this milestone.
Students were recognized at the November Board of Education meeting. Lindsey McCormick, Director of College and Career Readiness, presented the awards and explained that the recognition was not a scholarship program; however, students may include the honor on scholarship applications.

- Shelby MacFarland: National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
- Leslie Monter Casio: National Hispanic Recognition Award (NHRA), National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
- Molly Coughenour: National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
- Riley Schall: National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
- Eric Shockley: National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
- Bailey Thayer: National Rural and Small Town Award (NRSTA)
The College Board National Recognition Programs award academic honors to sophomores and juniors who take eligible administrations of Advanced Placement, PSAT/NMSQT, or PSAT 10 exams, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and identify as African American or Black, Hispanic or Latino, Indigenous or Native, or attend high school in a rural area or small town.
