The US first observed National Coming Out Day on October 11, 1988 to mark the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights and as a reminder that one of our most basic tools is the power of living as your most authentic self. Whether you're lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, asexual, intersex, or Two-Spirit, be proud of who you are and your support for LGBTQIA+ equality this Coming Out Day! #ColonelTOUGH

Welcome to our new directed study instructional assistant, Mrs. Vassiliki Lyras! She graduated from Beaver College/Arcadia University with a degree in early childhood and elementary education and worked as a pre-school teacher. She worked in the school system as a substitute teacher, an English as a Second Language tutor for Native students, and a deaf interpreter. After living in New Jersey for a few years, she moved to Maryland and is married with two daughters. She has a homestead with chickens, goats, three cats, one dog ,and lots of veggies.
